Laura is a recent addition to the Hunter New England Mental Health Neuropsychiatry Service.  Laura holds a Bachelors of Science (Health) degree and a Masters of Public Health (Epidemiology) degree from Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine based in Louisiana, USA. Laura has been lead investigator in shire outbreak investigations, and authored a number of population based surveys.  Among her past accomplishments Laura chaired the establishment of a transitional home for women recovering from substance abuse in a volatile community in Southwest Michigan. 

Laura has considerable experience in managing a variety of projects including an observational study of mature aged employees working in healthcare, home /community based falls prevention programs, and building a sustainable nurse workforce in rural communities. In her current role at the Neuropsychiatry Service, Laura is working in partnership with the Kirby Institute Justice Health program to coordinate the delivery of clinical research into violent offenders.  In the past, she has worked in conjunction with the Center for Disease Control & Prevention Epidemic Intelligence Officers investigating viral infections. Laura has acquired laboratory experience working in serology at the Wyoming State Veterinarian Laboratory and taught microbiology at the University of Wyoming.  While attending graduate school Laura worked at the Louisiana Department of Health and reported diseases of public concern, after completing her Master’s degree Laura became the Epidemiologist for Berrien County Health Department informing the public on various diseases and high risk behaviours in different populations.
