Qualifications: B SocSci (Crim) Hons, PhD

Bio: Melanie is the Co-ordinator of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Offender Health and a post-doctoral researcher at the Justice Health Research Program, Kirby Institute. Melanie holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Criminology) Honours degree and a PhD, both from the UNSW Australia.

Melanie has considerable experience in researching vulnerable groups including juvenile offenders, at-risk young people, ex-prisoners and alcohol and other drug users.  Her research approach is situated in the emerging field of epidemiological criminology, applying a public health approach to crime and justice.

In the past Melanie has worked at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre, the National Cannabis Prevention and Information Centre and the Indigenous Law Centre, UNSW.
